The Upper Valley Aquatic Center offers FREE classes and FREE childcare for members. We have a fully equipped gym, a fitness class studio and group cycling studio with more than twenty bikes. Our fitness classes are structured to accommodate all ages and fitness levels and are taught by nationally certified instructors. SEE FULL CLASS SCHEDULE

AQUA TOTAL CONDITIONING

This class will give you a GREAT core and total body workout in the shallow water.  We use noodles and the resistance of the water to make this class a fun-filled full body workout. It is a low impact class that will target your core strength, and toning your muscles.  All fitness levels.

BALLET BURN

Ballet fitness that blends classical technique with cardio intervals, yoga, and functional movement using ballet mechanics to flit back and forth between toning, strength, and cardio. A class utilizing dynamic cardio tracks that are fun and keeps you moving to the groove! All fitness levels are welcome and there is no need for previous dance experience.

BOOT CAMP

This class is a powerful and challenging workout. It improves cardiovascular endurance and muscular and core strength through a wide variety of moves. You will use a variety of equipment such as steps, bosu balls, body bars and weights. Intermediate to advanced fitness levels.

BUTTS & GUTS

This full body workout provides  exercises with particular emphasis (but NOT limited to) on the glutes, thighs, and abs. A variety of equipment is incorporated, such as bands, balls, and weights.  All fitness levels.

CIRCUIT TRAINING

Perform resistance training at an aerobic pace to get an intense, effective workout. Perform a timed work out or try to beat the clock. Whether you’re trying to one up a friend or just want to get a great workout—this class is for you. This class is located in the Group Exercise room and will be held outside whenever possible. This class has been filling up quick, so be sure to call ahead or stop in to reserve your spot. Intermediate to advanced fitness levels.

DEEP WATER VOLLEYBALL

This class is designed to improve strength and cardiovascular fitness through a full body deep water workout. Fun and community along with a great workout. All fitness levels!

DEEP WATER VARIATIONS

As you submerge yourself into the Competition Pool for a water fitness workout, your body becomes weightless, giving you a new kind of workout challenge. Deep water aerobics has a low impact on your joints but a high impact on your cardiovascular system. Wear a flotation belt for support in the deep water, or rely on your own ability to float as you perform deep water aerobic routines. All fitness levels.

ESSENTIAL CONDITIONING

A whole body workout designed to target all main muscle groups to improve overall strength and mobility. This course uses a circuit structure that includes agility, resistance, and a variety of equipment. Class is held outside if weather is appropriate.  Beginner to intermediate fitness levels.

FITNESS H2O

A low-impact, low-intensity class in the shallow-water, focusing on overall strength, endurance, balance, and flexibility. Seniors get in free!  All fitness levels.

FUSION

Build strength, balance, and flexibility through a fusion of Yoga, Barre and Pilates.  This class utilizes precise movements to activate, isolate and stabilize core muscle.  This workout will help to build long lean muscles using yoga postures and high intensity Barre and Pilates sequences; increasing range of motion, flexibility, and challenging your balance! All fitness levels.

GENTLE YOGA

Gentle yoga classes are appropriate for those who want a softer, nurturing, slow-paced, well-supported and relaxing practice. The approach includes carefully orchestrated movements, controlled pressure, and well-measured stretches, including range of motion exercises. Postures will be approached in gradual steps, with plenty of time to focus on breathing and repetition so that the practice is simple to do and easy to remember. All fitness levels.

HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL

The workout alternates between short periods of intense exercise and quick recovery periods.  This interval-based class combines full-body strength training with high intensity cardio bursts designed to tone your body, improve your endurance, and work up a sweat! Intermediate to advanced fitness levels.

KETTLEBELLS

A fast paced, full body work out using mainly kettlebells. Prepare for squats, lunges, rows, and much more. Exercises can be easily modified to accommodate all fitness levels.

MATT PILATES

Join us on the mat for a Pilates class focused on developing core strength, flexibility, balance, and stamina. Lengthen and strengthen your muscles with this highly effective low impact workout! All fitness levels.

POWER HOUR

A challenging small group based circuit style class with timed work and rest periods. You’ll be performing various strength and conditioning exercises at a fast pace using dumbbells, kettlebells, TRX, and your own body weight. This style of work out will quickly get your heart rate up into your training zone, and will help boost your metabolism. Intermediate to advanced fitness levels.

POWER STRENGTH

Each individual brings their own power to improve their strength and fitness level. Working together participants will be challenged to push their limit further than they think they can! Accept the challenge! All fitness levels.

GROUP CYCLING

A high-energy, fat-burning, indoor cycling workout. No matter what your fitness level, you’ll burn calories and have fun!  Group cycling integrates great music, camaraderie and visualization in a complete mind/body exercise program.  Classes utilize a simple set of movements, hand positions and heart-rate training to deliver personal empowerment and unparalleled fitness results. SEATED MEDITATION

In this 30 minute session, we will take the time to quiet the body and mind thru various mediation techniques. We will explore techniques such as mantra mediation, breath awareness, visualizations, loving-kindness mediations, and sounds meditations. Each week will cover a different theme, though you are always welcome to bring your own intentions. Beginner friendly.

SLOW FLOW YOGA

A slow paced class designed to rejuvenate and heal the body with power yoga elements.We will focus on alignment, building strength and flexibility. All fitness levels.

STRENGTH

A 30 or 60 (make sure to check the schedule) minute full body work out using a variety of equipment and exercises.  An excellent work out to do before a SPINNING® class.  All fitness levels.

TABATA

Tabata training is the hottest trend in high-intensity, low- (or no-) equipment workouts. This structured interval workout consists of 20 seconds of all-out work, followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated for a total of eight times on the same exercise or alternating exercises.Try this if you are looking to enhance your current workout with hard-core cardio and strength intervals! Intermediate to advanced fitness levels.

TOTAL BODY CONDITIONING

A 55-minute full body work out using a variety of equipment and exercises.  All fitness levels.

TRX SUSPENSION TRAINING

A unique strength building exercise using straps and your own body weight to build cardiovascular health, stamina, core stability and improve posture and balance. This training style WILL provide every tool you need to reach your goals. Classes run for 45 minutes and will boost your metabolism! Eight spots available per class. Please register early as spots fill fast.  Intermediate to advance fitness levels.

VINYASA YOGA

This class is a traditional approach to the Vinyasa yoga style, dating back to as early as 1930. In Vinyasa, each movement is synchronized with the breath. Expect this class to include traditional asana (poses) and sequences: sun salutations, standing poses, seated poses, back bends and an opportunity to learn/practice inversions. Great class for anyone who is interested in learning more about Traditional Vinyasa Flow (or Ashtanga Vinyasa). Open to all experience levels (even beginners!). Individual modifications will be available. All fitness levels.

WATERinMOTION®

Aqua exercise workout that provides a low impact, high-energy challenge for participants of all ages, skill and fitness levels. Jump in and make a splash with this dynamic cardiovascular workout that tightens and tones the entire body. Enjoy the pure fun of this 55 minute water extravaganza! All fitness levels.

WATERinMOTION® Platinum

A shallow-water, low-impact aqua exercise experience that offers active aging adults and de-conditioned participants a fun workout improving cardiovascular endurance, agility, balance, strength and flexibility. Our WATERinMOTION® Platinum certified instructors can gently share the pure joy of exercise through this buoyant, heart-healthy program. All fitness levels.

WEEKEND WARRIOR

A full body workout utilizing the group exercise room, stairs, and the great outdoors.  You will be using dumbbells, barbells, resistance bands, cable machines, cardio machines, and more.  This class will be held outside whenever possible.  All fitness levels.

YOGA FOR ATHLETES

Yoga promotes flexibility, strength, balance and inner focus. It can also help you avoid injuries. Yoga for Athletes will feature highly effective strengthening and stretching exercises, emphasizing long holds in order to find right alignments and proper breathing. This class may be what you are missing in your training regime. All fitness levels.

YOGA

Increase body tone and flexibility by focusing on core strength and mind/body connections. This form of yoga increases circulation, strengthens the immune system, and increases overall vitality.  All fitness levels.

ZUMBA®

The Zumba® program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. Our goal is simple: We want you to want to work out, to love working out, and to get hooked. Zumba® Fanatics achieve long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exciting hour of calorie-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life!  All fitness levels.

ZUMBATOMIC®

Zumbatomic® music is 100% kid-friendly with songs, dances, and actions that promote the overall theme of a healthy lifestyle. In the Zumbatomic® program, kids will learn dances to the following Latin rhythms: Cumbia, Reggaeton, Salsa, Hip Hop and Merengue, with the goal of incorporating fitness as a natural part of children’s lives. Zumbatomic® is a specially designed Zumba® Fitness class for children age 4-7.  Offered intermittently.

Upper Valley Aquatic Center Commences 9600 Square Foot Addition
Monday, August 29, 2016 –White River Junction, VT—Due to the growth of Upper Valley Aquatic Center’s (UVAC) membership base, increased day pass use from the community, and especially an increase in the number of families using the Center, the Upper Valley Aquatic Center’s Board of Directors approved an expansion plan. “We listened to feedback from our members and guests and realize that it’s time to add some features that will make their experience even better,” stated Andrea Ciardelli, the President of the UVAC Board of Directors. “We hired Bread Loaf Corporation to work with us to design and build a 9600 square foot addition. The new space will house a much larger family-friendly locker room with private changing suites; a new group exercise studio for classes such as Yoga, Pilates, stretching, and more; expanded fitness room space for strength and cardio equipment; and a physical therapy center with Be Fit Physical Therapy.” In keeping with the existing modern open floor plan, the addition will feature lots of natural light, visibility to the beautiful Vermont hillsides that surround the Center, and a fitness mezzanine that overlooks the fitness floor.

The Upper Valley Aquatic Center is owned by the Town of Hartford, Vermont and is operated by The Sports Venue Foundation. Since the Center is self-reliant and requires no town funding, the new addition will follow this model. The Sports Venue Foundation has already secured pledges from local supporters to fully fund the expansion.
Construction will be phased so that no interruption of UVAC’s current programs will occur. The grand re-opening is expected in May, 2017.
About Upper Valley Aquatic Center

The Upper Valley Aquatic Center opened its doors in February 2009 and quickly gained a reputation for having the most diverse range of aquatic offerings in the Upper Valley. The Center features a unique 88-degree indoor water park with kiddie water play structure, slide, lazy river, 3 lane pool for swim lessons and water exercise classes and 110-foot speed slide. The 11-lane state-of-the-art Competition Pool hosts swim meets for teams from all over New England. In addition, UVAC is an approved provider of a broad assortment of American Red Cross classes. The Fitness Center holds a full array of strength equipment, treadmills, elliptical machines and exercise bikes that have personal viewing screens. There are birthday party rooms and a certified Spin room as well as, a comprehensive offering of Splash Camp during Summer and Vacation times. UVAC offers more than 70 free group exercise classes each week and free childcare for members.

Age requirements for the Fitness Center or FREE Classes?

Youth 14+ may use the facility after completing an orientation.  Youth 12 and 13 years of age may use the fitness center or attend group exercise classes when accompanied by a guardian after an orientation.

If I have lost something at UVAC where should I go?

Go to Welcome Desk and they will assist you in finding your item, or call 802-296-2850. Anything not picked up within 30 days will be donated to a local charity.

What should I bring for the day?
  • Bathing suit, towel, goggles, soap for showering off. If you forget one, we sell them.
  • Adult guests should bring a current Valid ID
  • US Coast Guard approved flotation device. Flotation devices are provided in the Splash Park on a first come first served basis. Non-approved devices will not be allowed.
  • Lock for locker. We do sell locks for your convenience.
  • Money for the café or ATM card for ATM machine provided for your convenience
  • Cell phones- Please use them in the lobby and bleacher areas only. Cell phones have cameras and should not be used at all in the locker rooms for this reason.
