Why do you love coaching?

I love coaching because everyday is a new opportunity to empower a swimmer through our sport of swimming. I am honored to be able to build confidence in swimmers (age group & masters alike) through the movement of their bodies. I just really love people and I really love water so it was a perfect match for me.

What is your favorite quote?

IABDAIGTBA – “It’s a beautiful day and it’s great to be alive”

Every summer when I was young, I went to the Mercersburg Swim Camp in PA (and eventually I was honored to be a lead coach for them) but the counselors would knock on the swimmers doors at 6:00AM and say “It’s a beautiful day and it’s great to be alive”. This has stuck with me forever. Everyday I try to be grateful that I am alive.

Who is your hero?

This is a hard question for me: I don’t think I can say that I have any heroes. My philosophy is that pedestals are meant for statues not for people. BUT I will say I have a MILLION people that I truly admire. To name a few: BETTY WHITE (obviously), Dolly Parton, Nelson Mandela, Mr. Rogers, and I will not forget to mention all of the frontline workers during this pandemic.
