Top 5 Reasons to Become a Lifeguard at UVAC
1. CHALLENGE YOURSELF
As a lifeguard, you can challenge yourself to rise to your potential. To be a lifeguard you must take a lifeguarding course and pass a certification test-it’s not a simple part-time job application. At UVAC, you will consistently use the skills learned in your lifeguard course to participate in training with other lifeguards, thus always ensuring you are rescue-ready.
2. MAKE A DIFFERENCE
As a lifeguard, you will have the unique opportunity of knowing you are making a difference in the lives of your patrons every day. You will be present on deck, guarding the pool and patrons for any life-threatening emergencies, but you will also be handing out band aids, fitting lifejackets, and providing patron education. Every interaction makes a difference as a lifeguard.

3. TRAINING
The skills you learn as a lifeguard, whether they be rescue skills or communication skills will last a lifetime. These skills are transferrable to any job. Although your lifeguard training is complete, and you have the job, the training at UVAC never ends. Guards at UVAC participate in 2 hours per month of training (paid). This training drills down to the minute detail of every skill to make sure that guards are rescue ready at all times.

4. TEAM SPIRIT
As a lifeguard, you’re never alone. You will work closely with your teammates on things from mundane cleaning responsibilities to life-threatening emergencies. Spending all of this time with your teammates means you’re bound to make some of the best friends of your life.
