February is Body Positivity Month, and at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center (UVAC), we’re here to celebrate YOU. This month, we invite you to join us in embracing self-love and honoring the beauty of diversity in all its forms.
No matter your shape, size, color, or ability, your body is amazing—and so are you. Here at UVAC, we believe that fitness and wellness are about so much more than numbers on a scale or how you look in the mirror. It’s about feeling good, living fully, and discovering what your body can do.
Let’s Shift the Focus
Far too often, society emphasizes unattainable beauty standards that leave us feeling like we’re not enough. This February, we’re flipping the script. Instead of focusing on what you wish you could change about yourself, take a moment to celebrate all the incredible things your body does for you every single day:
Your legs that carry you through life’s many adventures.
Your arms that hug the ones you love.
Your heart that beats with strength and determination.
Every body is a good body, and every person deserves to feel proud and confident in their own skin.
Diversity is Strength
At UVAC, we’re proud to be a space where everyone—no matter their background or experience level—feels welcome. Our community is made stronger by the diversity of people who walk through our doors. Whether you’re here to swim, take a fitness class, or splash in the warm water pool, we want you to feel celebrated just as you are.
Ways to Practice Self-Love This Month
Self-love is a journey, and we’re here to help you along the way. Here are a ideas to help you honor your body and mind this February:
Set Positive Intentions: Instead of setting goals tied to how you look, focus on how you want to feel. Energized? Strong? Peaceful? Let those feelings guide your choices.
Try Something New: Get outside your comfort zone with a new activity, like Mahi in the Water, Kettlebell Strength, or a Cycling class. Discovering what your body can do is empowering!
Show Gratitude: Take a moment every day to thank your body for all it does. Write it down or say it out loud.
Connect with Community: Surround yourself with people who lift you up. Join a class or group at UVAC and experience the joy of moving with others.
Celebrate with Us
Throughout February, we’ll have an area in the lobby where you can jot down a self affirmation, say it to yourself, and post it on the wall. Join us in spreading the message of acceptance and love.
