Upper Valley Aquatic Club swimmer Jack Wadsworth qualified for this week’s junior nationals in North Carolina to highlight the team’s efforts at last weekend’s Winter Classic Invitational meet at the Upper Valley Aquatic Club.
Wadsworth, 16, of West Lebanon, went to Greensboro, N.C., this weekend for junior nationals, the second straight year he’s advanced. He swept to wins in all four of his Winter Classic races in the boys open division, taking the 200- and 400-yard individual medleys along with the 100- and 200-yard backstroke. The junior national championship runs through Saturday.
Other event winners, with competitor name, age, hometown and events won:
■Izak Tell, 8, Plainfield (boys 8 and under): 25 breastroke.
■Molly Kimber, 10, East Corinth (girls ages 9-10): 400 individual medley.
■Rosie Keith, 12, Orford (girls ages 11-12): 400 individual medley, 100 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 100 backstroke, 50 free.
■Aiden Caulfield, 11, Lyme (boys 11-12): 400 individual medley.
■Benton Cesanek, 14, Hanover (boys 13-14): 400 individual medley, 200 butterfly, 100 fly.
■Clare Brown, 17, Hanover (open girls): 400 individual medley.
■Emma Dunbar, 15, Hanover (open girls): 1,000 freestyle.
■Isabelle Hiller, 15, Woodstock (open girls): 200 breaststroke, 200 individual medley, 100 breast.
■Grace Wenger, 16, Hanover (open girls): 200 freestyle.
In all, UVAC swimmers added 33 silvers and 22 bronzes to their 21 gold-medal victories. Additionally, 31 UVAC athletes qualified for the New England age-group championship to be held at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in March, and another 14 made it into the New England Senior Championship scheduled for Dec. 13-16 in Providence.
