Building a Morning Routine in Quarantine

Ever wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Just waking up in a bad mood can ruin your whole day. By creating a simple wake-up routine during these uncertain times, you can kick-start your morning and set the tone for the rest of the day. Your morning routine is a personal one, what works for you, won’t work for someone else, and if you don’t like something, change it. However, it should only take 1-2 hours at the most, so you can have be productive and positive for the remainder of the day.

To create a successful morning routine, it is important to start small. Small changes will set you up for success and they are easier to stick with. So, where to start? Pick 3-4 practices from this list (or think of your own) and begin tomorrow morning!

  1. Wake up at the same time every
    morning
  2. Drink a glass of water first thing
  3. Do pushups as soon as you get
    out of bed
  4. Eat a balanced breakfast within 1 hour of waking up
  5. Go to the exercise space in your house and exercise
  6. Read a book
  7. Write in a journal
  8. Plan out your day
  9. Meditate for 10 minutes
  10. Enjoy a mug of coffee or tea in
    solitude
  11. Do yoga and or stretch your body

Setting up a routine for your morning will help the rest of you day feel more productive and it will help you give order to this uncertain time. Every little bit can help! Any bit of normalcy and routine can give you pause and grounding. So, enjoy your practice, and get ready to see the benefits!
