Scott Ellis joins the UVAC team after spending the past 16 years developing age group swimming and growing teams as a Head Coach. Most recently in West Virginia for three years. He not only built a team to success, but also a team culture based on trust, respect and responsibility. Additionally, Scott has helped develop the sport of swimming by participating on the Board of Delegates as Age Group Chair, Operational Risk Chair and Coaches Representative.

In the past three years, Scott has participated in USA swimming’s leadership Summit and Safe Sport conference to help develop the positive direction of swimming as a sport and to protect athletes in the process. He also served as the Head Coach for the Southern Zones Age Group Championships.

Over the past 5 years, he has worked to develop disability swimming and has spent time at the Olympic Training Center working with members of the United States Paralympic Team. Scott was nominated for Coach of the Year at YMCA Nationals multiple times over the past 10 years and received the Coach of Year honor once.

Scott got his start in the sport by participating in triathlons, and then walking on at University of Kentucky as a swimmer. He then attended Eastern Kentucky University and worked as an assistant coach at University of Kentucky.

Scott comes to the area with his wife Ashley, and their three younger children. They also have three grown children that all live in Ohio. They spend their free time doing things as a family, enjoying the outdoors by hiking, rafting and exploring new areas.
