Saturely Finds the Right Fit at the UVAC

It’s all about the fit. Like a comfortable pair of shoes or a fine-tailored suit, the Upper Valley Aquatics Center has been the perfect fitness fit for David Saturely.  A five-year member of the Center, the Hartford (Vt.) native says the Center fits like a glove. “It’s been the perfect place for me when it comes to working out,” he said.   “I really enjoy the instructors and the variety of classes.”

Saturely, who first heard about the UVAC at a local Rotary Club meeting, said he felt welcomed from his first visit. “I instantly felt comfortable,” he said. “From the folks at the front desk to the athletic trainers everyone is very welcoming and eager to help new members.”

After getting his feet wet with day passes, Saturely became a member and is now a frequent visitor of the Upper Valley Aquatics Center. “On a good week I’m there four times a week and on a great week I come over five times,” said Saturely, who takes advantage of the Center’s numerous and flexible class schedule.

Currently enjoying yoga and Pillates classes, Saturely likes the fact that the Center provides a no pressure, non-competitive environment where members can work out at their own pace with instructors and other members eager to provide advice and words of encouragement. Saturely, who has also made friends with other center members says there nothing routine about the classes. “There’s no stagnation. “Every once in a while the instructors will throw you a curve and keep you on your toes,” he said.

“The instructors are one of the strengths of the Center,” added Saturely, who can easily rattle off the names of several instructors who have played a key role, helping him maintain a workout schedule that is both challenging and fits his needs. “There’s an energetic feeling in the building. “You want to push yourself and do a little bit more.”

A member of the UVAC along with his wife Lisa and son Aidan, Saturely, who works for the City of Hanover, also says the classes, which are included in the membership, make it very cost effective. “The more you use it the less it costs,” he said. It really pays to come over as much as you can.”

“I would encourage everyone to give the Center a try,” said Saturely. “Get a day pass and maybe try a class. “Just by observing you’ll realize it’s a special place and not your average fitness center.”
